Referral terms

The rules of the referral programme.

The short version

  • One link per account.
  • You earn 30% of what referred members spend in their first year, after fees and refunds.
  • A purchase counts 60 days later. We pay quarterly, from €50.
  • Let people know it is a referral link. Don't spam, don't overpromise, don't advertise on our name.
  • If a change lowers what you earn, or we close the programme, we email you and it applies the next day. Earnings already made are paid under the old terms.

What the programme is

Any HouseSit member can take one referral link. When someone joins HouseSit through it, they count as referred by you. When a referred member buys something on HouseSit, you earn a share. That is the whole arrangement.

What counts, and what does not

A member counts as yours when they create their account within 30 days of clicking your link, on the same device and browser. If they clicked somebody else's link before yours, the member counts for them, not you — the first link wins, not the last. A purchase counts when a referred member buys a paid feature on HouseSit within 12 months of joining. Your own purchases never count, whichever link you came through. Nothing is owed for clicks or for signups on their own — only for money that actually arrived.

The share

You earn 30% of net. Net means what the member paid, minus the payment processor's fee, minus any refund. If a payment is refunded or a card dispute is lost, the earning is taken back. If it had already been paid to you, it is deducted from your next payment.

When and how you are paid

A purchase becomes available 60 days after it was made. At the end of each quarter, we pay everything that is available, in euros, once your balance passes €50. Below that, it rolls into the next quarter. We agree the payment method with you before the first payment; we may need an invoice from you, or a signed statement if you cannot invoice, and your country of tax residence.

What you must do

Let people know it is a referral link wherever you share it. Follow the rules of every place you post. If links are not allowed there, do not post yours. Do not make promises about HouseSit that HouseSit does not make. Do not buy advertising on HouseSit's name.

When we switch a link off

We can switch a link off, and withhold earnings that came from it, if it was used to spam, to make false claims, to advertise on our name, or in any way that harms members or HouseSit. We will tell you why. A switched-off link stops redirecting; its earnings that were honestly made are still paid. We can also take a name back, if we need it ourselves or we do not want it at our address. We tell you why, and you can pick a different one; the name we took back stays with us.

What you see about the people you refer

Numbers only: how many joined, how many bought, and what you earned. You are never shown who they are. Referred members are told in our privacy policy that we record which link they came through.

How these terms fit

These rules cover the referral programme only. Everything else — using HouseSit, the law that applies, and where a dispute is heard — is in the HouseSit terms.

Changing or ending the programme

If a change lowers what you earn, or we close the programme, we email you and it applies from the next day. Anything else takes effect when the date at the top of this page changes. Earnings you have already made are paid under the terms they were made under.
